SEO Liverpool is the most-searched for SEO-related term in Liverpool.
“So? What’s your point, Marty?” Allow me to explain.
I recently wrote a post about SEO lead generation where I wrote about the many different ways that agency owners can find new SEO leads for their SEO businesses.
One of those ways was ranking for local SEO keywords like SEO Liverpool, Liverpool SEO, Liverpool SEO Agency and many other related terms that business owners in Liverpool are searching for to find an SEO service to help their businesses to grow online.
So I thought I’d do an experiment. A proof of concept, if you like.
You have to practice what you preach, right?
SEO Liverpool – The Goal for This Post
In this experiment I am going to make use of simple SEO techniques such as bold keywords, good usage of headings and sub-headings, targeted titles, URLs and images, etc.
But I’m also going to put this to the test:
Brian Dean of Backlinko ran a study back in 2016 where he concluded that long-form content ranks better than content that is made up of less words. Much better, actually.
Content around the 2,000 word mark usually takes positions #1 and #2.
The study, although from 2016, still applies today.
Content really is king. As are links. Still.
The goal with this experiment is to rank as highly as possible in Google for the search term SEO Liverpool and any closely-related terms without much effort at all.
I’m going to write this post, and maybe use some internal links.
That’s going to be pretty much it.
Let’s see what happens, and if long-form content will win this rankings battle.
Who’s Currently Ranking for SEO Liverpool?
The top 3 results in Liverpool are held by pretty weak domains right now.
As an SEO I’d see this as an instant opportunity for success, and easy leads.
Pete Duffy – DR 26 – 185 referring domains – 1,489 words
Graham SEO – DR 26 – 124 referring domains – 991 words
SEO Liverpool – DR 36 – 80 referring domains – 1,1693 words
Hey Graham, if you want to beat Pete, just try writing more words than him!
The domain rating for seoliverpool.net is 36, but it’s a great example of one that is manipulated by having only high DR directory links pointing to it. Although Ahrefs see it as a quality domain, Google doesn’t, and an experienced SEO can see that too.
Early proof of word count and ranking correlation, too, maybe? Pete Duffy has the most words and is #1. Graham is #2 with less words than SEO Liverpool but has a stronger domain.
Interesting. Very interesting indeed.
So we are going to need at least 1,500 words for this post, I’d say.
But I will always be at a disadvantage with this post because the sites currently ranking have local SEO signals that help them to rank better in that location. Like NAP citations.
Opportunity with Liverpool SEO
As mentioned in my SEO leads post, I used to work at an SEO agency in Liverpool and I dominated the rankings for as long as I wanted to with very little effort.
But it was worthy of even more effort to be honest.
Because it delivered some great quality leads for the business.
I did the work outside of working hours and reached #1 for SEO Liverpool within just a couple of months with my own website. I took the leads and passed them to the company.
That’s how it looked back then. It’s a little nostalgic.
Interestingly, it probably had less than 1,000 words on the homepage.
But I did update the blog every single day for a couple of months, and it’s during that time that I saw an uplift in all of my rankings. Regular, fresh content is SO important.
Tata Steel and Noa & Nani are just two of the big clients that came into the company as a result of my SEO work. Not just from the term SEO Liverpool, but I also chased after the broader term of SEO Agency where we temporarily reached position two.
Here’s why Liverpool is a good city to target with SEO services:
- 1,000 searches per month for SEO Liverpool, according to SEMrush
- SEO Agency Liverpool gets plenty too, not shown in SEMrush
- Low competition – easy for a skilled SEO to conquer
- Quality SEO clients are ready to find you
How to Find a Good Liverpool SEO Agency
If you’re a business owner in Liverpool and you’re trying to search for a great Liverpool-based SEO company then you need to know what to look for in an SEO agency.
First, always look for an address that’s in Liverpool.
Many SEO companies in the UK try to target every town and city.
They do this by using duplicate content across multiple pages and simply change the city from page-to-page. A real SEO, or SEO company, wouldn’t do that. So avoid those.
And always look for SEO case studies.
These will show you what sort of SEO results a company can get for you. They’ll show you what the company they worked with needed, what they did about it, and the outcome. You can then see if the terms were competitive, how much the businesses grew, and more.
Liverpool SEO agencies I’d recommend:
Epic New Media
I worked at Epic New Media for 2 years so I know the type of guys the owners and team are over there. They genuinely care about the work they deliver and always had a great track record with keeping clients happy with great results and account management.
You can visit their website here.
I interviewed for Pixus a few years back and got to saw how the team work.
I was really impressed with their knowledge on SEO and they seem to have a good handle on their account management. They also offer an awesome ecommerce product.
You can visit their website here.
Looking at reviews is always a good idea, too, of course.
Expectations for This Experiment
I expect this post to initially rank quite low in Google.
But over time, as this domain ages and its authority rises, I expect to see a gradual uplift for SEO Liverpool and close keyword variations. But who knows how high it will rank.
If it reaches the top spot it only confirms what we already knew in long-form content being king, but if it doesn’t then I would have to say it’s a combination of weight from other signals we’re lacking such as local NAP citations, relevant inbound links and so on.
I guess we will have to find out, right?
It’s a fun little experiment.
